What does family mean to you and who do you consider a part of your family?

Family to Tsukuyo has very little to do with the traditional sense of the word. Almost nothing is said about any blood relatives she might have once had, she only mentions this once very briefly when she explains that she was sold to the pleasure district as a child. Understandably she appears to hold zero affection for whoever her parents might have been.
If you were to ask Tsukuyo whom she actually considers her family, she would answer that it's the family that you build, not necessarily the one that you're born into. The family she holds in highest regard is that of the one she has with Hinowa and Seita, a mother and son that she met and the former of whom protected Tsukuyo from the abuses of a more senior courtesan when she was growing up. As a consequence, Tsukuyo swore to protect Hinowa no matter what.

How important is loyalty to you? What does it take to earn your loyalty? What extents are you willing to go through to maintain loyalty, and respect the loyalty others might have invested in you?

Loyalty is extremely important to Tsukuyo but selectively so, you really have to earn it from her first and she has shown herself unwilling to just blindly follow orders from those of authority ever since she was a child. She tends to place her trust and loyalty in those that she sees as resolutely and fundamentally "good" or do something to earn her respect, she's also supremely loyal to those who have placed their trust in her in return. Once you do have her loyalty, you've got a steadfastly loyal ally for life.
Tsukuyo is loyal to the women of Yoshiwara and during the course of the series she has shown what measures she's prepared to take in order to protect them and Hinowa. During her initial introduction, she's technically under the command of Yoshiwara's alien overlord, Housen, and she is leader of the Hyakka, the district's all female law enforcement squad. One of her duties includes performing the execution of female courtesans who have been deemed unfit to continue living in Yoshiwara, whether that be because they have been disobedient in one form or another or they have simply outlived their attractiveness or are deemed unworthy in some way. Instead of carrying out this order, Tsukuyo instead scars the women's faces like her own and hides them amongst the ranks of the Hyakka, giving them a new role and a second chance. This shows both her capacity for loyalty to those she grew up with and cares about, but also that she's unwilling to be loyal to someone she deems unworthy, even if they are her boss. Rank means nothing to her if the person wielding it does not have her respect first. When she's later revealed to be disobeying and actively going against Housen, she's even willing to let the women she saved kill her to preserve themselves and avoid trouble, such is her loyalty to these women who follow her.

What are your greatest regrets, if you have any? What would you have done differently?

You would be hard-pressed to get an answer from Tsukuyo with this question as she's both extremely guarded and stubborn when it comes to her own feelings. If you did get a straight answer though she would reluctantly admit that one of her greatest regrets is keeping herself closed off from others for so long and always trying to shoulder all of her burdens alone. Not to say that she still doesn't try and do this - old habits are difficult to break- but she's slowly getting better at opening up, trusting people and letting them in, as well as realising the positive impact friendships have. If she had the choice to go back and do things differently, she would have tried to have done this much earlier - although, having been raised by an infamous ninja and assassin who taught her that embracing others equals weakness, much of this isn't necessarily her fault.

Your Faction leader, not just your boss but the leader, has asked you to carry out a hit. The target is a non-affiliated public leader, well-liked by the people of the city. Do you carry it out? Why or why not?

While Tsukuyo can be brutal and was trained by an indiscriminate killer and assassin, she also has a very strong sense of morality. She would never eliminate a target based on orders alone and would need some kind of understanding as to why the leader is to be assassinated. If it's purely for ambitious and self-serving reasons on the part of her faction leader then there's almost zero chance that she will carry it out - not without some serious leverage ie. threats against a loved one and never for any kind of monetary reasons. If the individual concerned is well-liked for being a good person and a benefit to the community then she may even take measures to assist them like she did when she faked the assassinations of the women she was ordered to get rid of.

POWERS & ABILITIES: Tsukuyo is a trained shinobi/ninja and is pretty much what you'd expect to go along with this; she's fast, acrobatic and agile and tends to rely on that in a combat situation rather than brute strength - although she's not lacking in that either and can suplex throw a grown man much taller and heavier than herself. Besides her fighting abilities, she's just an ordinary human.

SUITABILITY:

Tsukuyo was sold as a child to Edo's red light district, Yoshiwara. She grew up amongst sex workers and the district itself was formally under the control of Housen, a former commander of the Harusame - basically space pirates. Violence and crime were par for the course in the way that district was run so being surrounded by this again in Jigokucho would be nothing she couldn't handle or be more than used to at this point. For years Tsukuyo served as leader of Yoshiwara's policing force, the Hyakka, under Housen and committed acts of violence in his name. She's also been shown to be tackling drug related crime later in the series, once Housen has been removed as leader and the city is back under the control of the women themselves.

FACTION SUITABILITY:

Shuten: Shuten values strength and will and Tsukuyo possesses both of those in spades. As well as being tough physically and a strong fighter - she's recognised as the Hyakka's strongest as their leader- when she sets her mind to something she never gives up. The Shuten's recognition that power carries with it responsibility to their community is something that Tsukuyo embraces fully, as she dedicates her life to protecting the community of Yoshiwara and its people.
As for their culture of hard drinking... Tsukuyo actually has the nickname of "drunk terminator" due to her complete inability to handle alcohol in a normal manner (she's gotten drunk in canon from eating a single booze filled chocolate...) and the sadistic way she behaves when she's drunk. This might sound like a case for her not fitting in with the Shuten, but actually her inebriated state only seems to increase her strength and proclivities towards brawling - she's been known to throw a grown man or too. She undergoes almost a complete personality change when she's drunk (very Jekyll and Hyde) and loves nothing better than drinking games and trashing a bar when she's like this.
Ordinarily (when sober) though, Tsukuyo is not one for excess and she tends to live a pretty modest existence and she might be at odds with the Shuten when it comes to their focus on money and appetite.

Tamamo: Tsukuyo grew up surrounded and raised by other women, she leads an all-women militia group and- having deposed the male overlord- now lives in a female led city. If nothing else, she will more likely respect and respond best to a seemingly strong female leader like Tenko-hime and will prove herself to be exceptionally loyal if their ideas align.
As mentioned previously, Tsukuyo herself hails from a fictionalised version of the Yoshiwara red-light district of Edo, which specialises in sex work and entertainment. While Tsukuyo's serious personality doesn't really let her indulge in these things herself, she has ample knowledge of how these establishments work and operate and is essentially responsible for the smooth running of the district and protecting its sex workers back home. She would therefore seamlessly fit into this kind of environment here, particularly if she's given a similar protector role. She actually goes by the title: Shinigami Tayuu - basically Courtesan of Death, due to her intimidating presence and brutal treatment of those who wrong the other women she is sworn to protect.
Like the Tamamo, freedom is also extremely important to her, as she strove to give freedom and autonomy back to the women of Yoshiwara and rid them of Housen's rule. She's also shown to have been extremely stubborn and disobedient as a child due to her refusal to let anyone break her spirit and have her live willingly in what she refers to as a "cage", which she sees as a fate worse than death.

Sutoku: Tsukuyo, like the Sutoku Alliance, does place value in intelligence. Despite being sold to Yoshiwara at such a young age she possesses extensive knowledge of the history of Japan, not a usual requirement for someone in her position and something she appears to have educated herself in independently. She also takes it upon herself to try and impart this knowledge to others and emphasises the importance of education. An important part of being a ninja and leader of her police force is also intelligence gathering and she makes it her business to know the comings and goings of Yoshiwara, including any gang presence - something she would have in common with the Sutoku.
She differs from them however in that she has little interest in anything within the financial realm or using information against others in order to ruin their reputations, underhandedness isn't her deal.

Enma: Tsukuyo and her subordinates are essentially "the cops" of Yoshiwara in her home world, therefore being a member of the cops of this one would not be a stretch. Maintaining order and tackling issues such as assault on sex workers and illegal drug trafficking into her city are essentially her life's work so if she were a member of Enma the faction would be receiving someone who is already extremely experienced in the type of work that would be expected of her here.
In terms of fitting in with Enma's overall mentality, Tsukuyo has been shown to be particularly brutal in the way that she deals with those she sees as having crossed the line and caused disorder in her city. In the first scene in which she appears, she comes to the aid of a sex worker who is being harassed by a group of samurai. They then turn their attention to Tsukuyo and one of them begins soliciting her for sex - she responds by killing them and not in a particularly merciful fashion either, instead slicing off the ringleader's limbs before finishing him and the rest of them off.
However, where I think she may struggle with fitting in with the Enma though is her inability to just blindly carry out orders when she believes them to be morally wrong. For her maintaining order should not come at the expense of being a good person at your core and Tsukuyo is a fundamentally kind person. Any violence she commits is usually in the interests of protecting someone more vulnerable than herself.

It's only when she meets Hinowa, Yoshiwara's highest ranked courtesan, that Tsukuyo begins to channel that iron will and determination into something worthwhile - protecting those she cares about.

Doing so is of such importance to her that, having become a pupil of of the infamous ninja Jiraira, Tsukuyo made the decision to mutilate her own face and leave herself with two permanent scars, symbolising her decision to abandon her womanhood and ensure that she could never go back on that decision. She believed doing so would make her stronger and allow her to protect Hinowa and Yoshiwara.

Loyal and kind: Tsukuyo possesses unwavering loyalty and a sense of duty to those she cares about and has shown herself willing to do whatever it takes to protect them. She places tremendous value upon human life. For years she served as leader of Yoshiwara's policing force, the Hyakka, under Housen, the alien overlord who had taken control of the district. On the surface, this was to preserve Housen's laws, when in reality Tsukuyo had been using her position in order to protect the women of Yoshiwara. Former prostitutes who would attempt to escape- a crime usually punishable by death- would be secretly hidden among the Hyakka's ranks by her. These actions, above all, show her kindness and sincere desire to help and protect others more vulnerable than herself.

Withdrawn/guarded: Tsukuyo tends to come across as the strong, quiet, even morose type and she likes to keep it that way - usually because she's shouldering more responsibilities and burdens than one person rightly should. Self-sacrifice and struggling with her own sense of identity and the belief that she isn't good enough are constant threads throughout Tsukuyo's narrative. She was taught by Jiraia to forget being a woman and above all to forget being herself - failing to do so would make her weak. It's only when she meets Gintoki that she begins to accept that she does not have to give up her womanhood or who she is in order to be strong, she doesn't have to be anyone else; as a woman, as herself, she is good enough.

When Tsukuyo is later reunited with Jiraia once more, he takes a dim view of her new found friendships and bonds, seeing them as a fatal flaw in the image of deadly perfection that he had been trying to create with his student. As a consequence, he resolves to burn down Yoshiwara and all that Tsukuyo cares about in order to undo all of this and make her stronger. This only strengthens Tsukuyo's desire to protect those she cares about and she begs her former teacher to spare them. She would do anything Jiraia wanted, so long as her friends are spared from his wrath.

In the end, Tsukuyo shows her kindness and incredible capacity to forgive. She is the one who kills Jiraia in order to protect Gintoki, but she is the one carrying her master in his final moments.

Serious/uptight: As someone who can come across as "uptight" and very serious, what Tsukuyo really does struggle with is truly letting her guard down and having fun. So much so that Hinowa, ever the one looking out for her, becomes concerned for Tsukuyo's mental well being after the death of her master. Hinowa manages to enlist the help of Gintoki and the Yorozuya, tricking Gintoki into accepting an evening in Yoshiwara (and everything that usually entails...) on the house - which he presumes will be with one of Yoshiwara's many other women. Inevitably, the woman is Tsukuyo, who has similarly been deceived into thinking she was going to be spending the evening taking care of a very special guest.

The end result of all of this is the discovery that Tsukuyo does not handle alcohol well, in the slightest. She becomes excessively angry and violent, punctuated here and there with bits of bizarre flirtation that eventually just lead straight back to violence again. After forcing everyone in the group to drink with her and knocking them all out, Tsukuyo, being Tsukuyo, is straight back on duty and patrolling the next morning. No matter the circumstances, she can never let go of that sense of duty for too long.

Over the course of the series, having found friends who accept and love her for who she is, Tsukuyo slowly becomes a happier, more open individual; someone who can finally start living her life for her.

Under pressure: Generally Tsukuyo is very much the type to subscribe to the creed of never let someone see you sweat. In a life or death situation or any type of combat, she rarely loses her cool bar the occasional impassioned rage fit if someone she cares about is under threat of any kind. Largely due to the way she was taught by her master, she has the tendency to try and shoulder any and all burdens alone, even if it's to her detriment. To do otherwise is weakness, although she has learnt to lean on others far more over the course of the series.

She's not so great at handling social or romantic pressure. In fact, she's been known to get drunk on occasion out of nerves or apprehension about a social situation and if she feels flustered or embarrassed about something she tends to lash out, whether that be verbally or more often than not, physically. She put a fellow character into a suplex wrestling move because he "accidentally" touched her breast. Basically, she might struggle with the intimacy aspects of the setting at first - more so if she actually develops feelings for the other person.

Condition upon arrival: Healthy - a little tired from the shenanigans she's just been through but otherwise fine.

Abilities: Tsukuyo is a trained shinobi and is pretty much what you'd expect to go along with this; she's fast, strong, acrobatic and agile. Besides her fighting abilities, she's just an ordinary human.

Personality: Tsukuyo has always shown determination- stubbornness even- and resistance in the face of something she does not agree with or perceives as wrong in any way. She was sold to the red-light district, Yoshiwara, as a child and showed constant resistance and disobedience from the get-go. It's only when she meets Hinowa, Yoshiwara's highest ranked courtesan, that Tsukuyo begins to channel that iron will and determination into something worthwhile - protecting those she cares about.

Doing so is of such importance to her that, having become a pupil of of the infamous ninja Jiraira, Tsukuyo made the decision to mutilate her own face and leave herself with two permanent scars, symbolising her decision to abandon her womanhood and ensure that she could never go back on that decision. She believed doing so would make her stronger and allow her to protect Hinowa and Yoshiwara.

Tsukuyo possesses unwavering loyalty and a sense of duty to those she cares about and has shown herself willing to do whatever it takes to protect them. She places tremendous value upon human life. For years she served as leader of Yoshiwara's policing force, the Hyakka, under Housen, the alien overlord who had taken control of the district. On the surface, this was to preserve Housen's laws, when in reality Tsukuyo had been using her position in order to protect the women of Yoshiwara. Former prostitutes who would attempt to escape- a crime usually punishable by death- would be secretly hidden among the Hyakka's ranks by her. These actions, above all, show her kindness and sincere desire to help and protect others more vulnerable than herself.

Tsukuyo tends to come across as the strong, quiet, even morose type and she likes to keep it that way - usually because she's shouldering more responsibilities and burdens than one person rightly should. Self-sacrifice and struggling with her own sense of identity and the belief that she isn't good enough are constant threads throughout Tsukuyo's narrative. She was taught by Jiraia to forget being a woman and above all to forget being herself - failing to do so would make her weak. It's only when she meets Gintoki that she begins to accept that she does not have to give up her womanhood or who she is in order to be strong, she doesn't have to be anyone else; as a woman, as herself, she is good enough.

When Tsukuyo is later reunited with Jiraia once more, he takes a dim view of her new found friendships and bonds, seeing them as a fatal flaw in the image of deadly perfection that he had been trying to create with his student. As a consequence, he resolves to burn down Yoshiwara and all that Tsukuyo cares about in order to undo all of this and make her stronger. This only strengthens Tsukuyo's desire to protect those she cares about and she begs her former teacher to spare them. She would do anything Jiraia wanted, so long as her friends are spared from his wrath.

In the end, Tsukuyo shows her kindness and incredible capacity to forgive. She is the one who kills Jiraia in order to protect Gintoki, but she is the one carrying her master in his final moments.

As someone who can come across as "uptight" and very serious, what Tsukuyo really does struggle with is truly letting her guard down and having fun. So much so that Hinowa, ever the one looking out for her, becomes concerned for Tsukuyo's mental well being after the death of her master. Hinowa manages to enlist the help of Gintoki and the Yorozuya, tricking Gintoki into accepting an evening in Yoshiwara (and everything that usually entails...) on the house - which he presumes will be with one of Yoshiwara's many other women. Inevitably, the woman is Tsukuyo, who has similarly been deceived into thinking she was going to be spending the evening taking care of a very special guest.

The end result of all of this is the discovery that Tsukuyo does not handle alcohol well, in the slightest. She becomes excessively angry and violent, punctuated here and there with bits of bizarre flirtation that eventually just lead straight back to violence again. After forcing everyone in the group to drink with her and knocking them all out, Tsukuyo, being Tsukuyo, is straight back on duty and patrolling the next morning. No matter the circumstances, she can never let go of that sense of duty for too long.

Over the course of the series, having found friends who accept and love her for who she is, Tsukuyo slowly becomes a happier, more open individual; someone who can finally start living her life for her.

Abilities & Skills: Tsukuyo is a trained shinobi and is pretty much what you'd expect to go along with this; she's fast, acrobatic and agile and tends to rely on that in a combat situation rather than brute strength. Besides her fighting abilities, she's just an ordinary human.

Choice: Monster: Harpy
Reason: Beautiful and fearsome pretty much describes her perfectly. As well as this, being a ninja she specialises in attacking from above and patrolling rooftops, which seems to fit the harpy monster. She also goes by the nickname of Courtesan of Death back in her own world, which I think matches well with the idea of the harpy being alluring yet deadly.
